It has been, frankly, a tough few months, with my father's illness and death, and it has affected me more deeply than I could have imagined. I have done very little work since July, really, but am getting ready to get back on the horse now. Tomorrow, I fly to Winnipeg, from where I will catch a train to Churchill, "Polar Bear Capital of the World," the principal portion of research for my upcoming book Ice Bear . If I can blog from the tundra I will; otherwise, I'll post updates on my return.

With thanks to the good people at The Authors Guild, we're up and running with a blog. I'll be stopping by to update on a periodic basis; feel free to leave comments and criticism (but hopefully not criticism) as the mood takes you.
