The contrast between now and then is startling. Twelve months ago, the MGM Grand was full of singing, chanting Brits, in Las Vegas to support their man Ricky Hatton as he challenged the pound-for-pound best in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Back on the horse

It's been a long time - three and a half months, in fact. Much, much water has passed under the bridge since then. It has been, to put it mildly, an eventful 14 weeks or so. But now I'm back, getting ready to board a plane to return to Las Vegas for another boxing event. I must confess, it will be good to see the crowd again.

Decided to decorate around here. the old yellow-on-blue veneer might have registered with my old colorblind eyes, but I decided it was time to impart a little gravitas, a little learning. You know, to compensate for the fact that I don't actually really have any myself.

There isn't really much more to be said about the events of November 4 - not much of any significance that I can add, anyway. It was my first election as a United States citizen, and a first vote I shall always cherish as my small contribution to a genuine historic moment in time.
